Parent meetings

Parent meeting are held monthly on or about the 3rd Monday of each month throughout the year. Meeting will include financial reports, information about upcoming events regarding all teams, Boys, Girls, Varsity and JV.

Parent Responsibilities

Please be aware of our need for contributions of time or supplies for our events, including evening home duals, away duals and tournaments, senior night and the end of year banquet. Our biggest fundraisers besides the Snap Raise are the Girls Invitational Tournament and Boys JV Tournament. Room workers, concessions, food prep, donations and set-up/break down will be organized. Early in the season we will create committees to maintain order and efficiency.  Keep an eye on emails and correspondences from coaches and the booster club.

Practices

Preseason Practice currently being held on Tuesday and Thursday 4-5:30 pm in the Wrestling Room.

Start of the season practices, TBD

League Duals

Weeknight meets- Wednesdays, both home and away. Your wrestler might compete either JV or Varsity or both throughout the year.

Wrestler Offs

When an event calls for a varsity team, the team will be formed by the coaches who may have the wrestlers compete during practice to earn the varsity spot.

Tournaments

Tournament schedules are elected and arranged by the coaches prior to the start of the season and generally take place on the weekends. Some are exclusively JV or Varsity. The boys will be alerted in a timely manner as to whether or not they are participating.  Not all Girls tournaments will include the Middle School Team.

Team tournaments will be a roster of wrestlers, one per weight class, competing as a team in multiple duals and awarded placement as a team. In varsity team tournaments, each wrestler’s pa-wrestling record is updated per their individual performance.

Individual tournaments might allow for more than one wrestler per weight class from the same team at times. Wrestlers are rewarded for their personal performance with placement. This is more common in regular season JV and Girls tournament settings. Some team mates may compete against one another in this case.

The PIAA Regular Season

Begins November 18, 2024. Wrestlers must be registered in form Releaf with all necessary paperwork in order to participate in practices and be rostered. The regular season ends in February typically with the Suburban One League Tournament.

The PIAA  Post Season

Beginning with the District 1/12 Tournament. Top 5 place finishers move on to the Regional Tournament and the top 4 then move on to the PIAA State Championship in Hershey.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a Pride Pack?

The pride pack is a warm up outfit that the board orders for the wrestlers for the season. For wrestlers who participate in our fundraising efforts the cost is covered.

What about weight cutting?

Hydration testing is performed by the trainers at the start of the season to determine what the lowest weight is that a wrestler would be allowed to achieve and wrestle at. Additionally the coaches use a decent plan for wrestlers looking to drop in weight. The parameters are designed to ensure weight is not dropped too quickly.

Should my wrestler be weight training outside of practice time?

All wrestlers will have some weight room time during the week. If your wrestler works with an outside trainer, it would be wise for them to understand the demands put on the wrestler by the team so they can plan accordingly.

Is wrestling safe?

Of course there is inherent risk in any activity. Wrestlers do not have the highest injury rate among high school athletes per the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons study in 2023. Along with the aforementioned weight guidelines, our trainers use an impact test as a baseline for assessing any head injuries or concussions that may occur. Of course you should seek medical care when necessary.

Does my wrestler need to go to meets if they aren’t wrestling?

We encourage the team to travel and plan to be together for meets and tournaments unless otherwise instructed. Wrestlers who are not in good academic standing may be prohibited from participating.
